The Show County Quality is one of the major Group 3 Races in the Sydney Spring Carnival held every year in August at Sydney’s Warwick Farm Racecourse in New South Wales. The race is worth up to $175,000 in prize money and is a quality handicap run over a sprint distance of 1200M. Rebel Dane capped a strong start in the Spring Carnival with victory in the 2013 edition of the Show County Quality with Title and Norzita settling for second and third respectively.
The Show County Quality was upgraded from a listed event to a Group 3 race for the 2013-14 season in a move which many horse racing enthusiast say underpins the quality and talent the event has showcased in recent years.
Although the Show County Quality is not exactly one of the big money events in the Spring Carnival, the race nonetheless has in recent years assembled a field of gifted sprinters most of which have also made it big in other sprint events later in the Carnival. Horses that perform well in this race can consider running in the Group 3 Tramway Quality Handicap that comes a few weeks after the race. A number of horses have won the Show County Quality and the Tramway Quality Handicap in recent years.
Most notable ones however include Primus back in 2006, The Bank Robber two years later, and Sportsman back in 2003. The 2014 edition of the Show County Quality is expected to present the excitement and enthralling racing it has in its history. The event would be ideal for emerging sprinters looking to build a strong foundation and move on to compete for more honors in other sprint races in the Spring Carnival.
