The Hall Mark Stakes is a 1200M Group 3 event designed for 3 year-old and above horses. The race is run under set weight and penalty conditions and is today one of the major Group 3 events in the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. The Hall Mark Stakes is held annually in April at Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse in New South Wales. The event is worth $150,000 in prize money and over the last few years, the race has produced some of the most exciting and competitive racing in the Sydney Autumn.
The 2013 Hall Mark Stakes was among the most hotly contested races last year and Rarefied did exemplary well to produce a strong run and claim the title. Following in second was Skytrain with See The World coming closely in third. The Hall Mark Stakes was upgraded from a listed race to a Group 3 event for the 2013-14 racing season.
The race is also held on the last day of the Sydney Autumn and features along the Group 1 All Aged Stakes on the same day. The Hall Mark Stakes is a perfect sprint event that provides a stage for emerging and upcoming sprinters to make a mark in Australian horse racing. The event tends to assemble above average 3 year-olds and this is ideal in creating the right platform for a pulsating and close contest.
The Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes and the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes are perfect build up events for the Hall Mark Stakes. Some of the notable horses to win the race include Winning Hand back in 1997, All our Mob in 1994 and Ego’s Dare in 2010. The 2014 edition of the Hall Mark Stakes is among some of the most anticipated Group 3 events in the Sydney Autumn and just like many years before, the race is expected to showcase great and exciting racing.
