Enhancing your odds at the 2017 VRC Oaks
One of the biggest races in the Melbourne Cup carnival after the showpiece event is the $1 million Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) which is held every year at Flemington. This race features some of the most speedy 3YO fillies in the country.
This year, the race will feature a total of 12 fillies. So, who are the strongest contenders for the Oaks? We have that answered for you in this article, so do continue reading.
Of late, it has been observed that punters aren’t too keen on making a single racer an overwhelming favourite. However, so impressive has Aloisia’s performance been of late that it’s being put below $2 as the overwhelming favourite going into Thursday’s race. Having already tasted G1 and G2 level victories, this young filly surely has all it takes to win the race on her day. There is no doubt that this Kiwi speedster is seemingly the strongest contender in the race.
This filly is currently in a wonderful form and like the favourite Aloisia, it has won each of its last two races including the G3 Ethereal. A lot of legendary fillies have come out of the stable of Gai Waterhouse and have went on to become legends. The trainer will hope that her $6 rated filly will continue her stable’s glorious legacy.
Although this John Sargent trained filly hasn’t had the best of run, especially when compared against the top two favourites, it did win its first group level race in its last appearance. However, will this $7 rated filly from New Zealand be able to break the dominance of Aloisia? Maybe not.
Bring Me Roses
Only a month ago, Bring Me Roses raced gloriously at Flemington to win dominantly in the G2 Manifold Stakes. However, punters may have been discouraged by the filly’s poor show in the Wakeful Stakes. However, despite being put at $20, this filly is surely one of the most promising contenders in the race. So expect a top three finish.
Despite being put at $14, Rimraam is surely one of the most promising contenders in the race. The filly has never finished outside the podium positions in every race she has appeared and although the Oaks maybe its biggest race, there is no doubt that it has all the ability to finish inside the top 3 yet again.
